Hi! I'm Anna and I play bassoon for a living! Go figure.

I even have a degree in playing the bassoon, from McGill University, which is a real school generally recognized to actually exist! I studied there with Martin Mangrum and Stephane Levesque. In my final year of McGill, I won the principal bassoon position in the Niagara Symphony Orchestra; the next year, I filled a one-year vacancy in the Thunder Bay Symphony, and in the fall of 2017 I'll be embarking on life as a real life, full-time, single-income-stream professional musician as the principal bassoonist of the Regina Symphony.

I've been an active freelancer in Southern Ontario., and have played with the Toronto Symphony, Kitchener-Waterloo Symphony, Windsor Symphony, and the Toronto Concert Orchestra. On the summer festival circuit, I've participated in National Academy Orchestra of the Boris Brott Festival as well as three summers with the National Youth Orchestra of Canada and have traveled to Bangalore, India as a member of the Canada-India Youth Orchestra Project.

This blog isn't just about music, because ever since Ben Kamins once told me that I needed a freaking life (okay, I'm paraphrasing, he was nicer than that) I also have actual hobbies! My main hobby is gymnastics, and I also lift things up and put them down on a regular basis.
